『PASTRY 1』 is a book intricately woven by graphic designer Gukhan Kim, documenting artworks centered around memories that he has been developing since 2023. He captures various memories directly through photographs, pairing them together and interlacing them horizontally and vertically to create a new visual space. The resulting woven artworks emerge like fragments of memories, reminiscent and evocative, becoming memories in and of themselves.
The book is composed of twenty scanned reproductions of woven artworks and five short writings. The main text, consisting of scans of woven artworks, is not fixed, allowing for individual sheets to be appreciated independently. Within the book covers, two additional pages are saddle-stitched, featuring introductions to the creative process and five short writings on memory and time.
책 『PASTRY 1』은 그래픽 디자이너 김국한이 2023년부터 진행 중인 기억에 관한 아트워크를 엮은 것입니다. 그는 겹치며 떠오르는 여러 기억을 직접 촬영한 사진들을 한 쌍씩 짝짓고 직조해 새로운 지면을 만들어 내는 것으로 시각화합니다.
책은 스무 장의 직조 작업물 스캔본과 다섯 편의 짧은 글들로 구성되었습니다. 직조 작업물 스캔본으로 구성된 본문 스무 장은 고정되지 않아 낱장으로도 감상할 수 있습니다. 책날개 안쪽에는 작업 과정에 대한 소개와 기억, 시간에 관한 다섯 편의 짧은 글들이 실린 내지 두 장이 중철되어 있습니다.
